This sabrage technique was popularised in France when Napoleon Bonaparte’s army visited many aristocratic estates shortly after the French Revolution. The sabre was the weapon of choice for Napoleon’s cavalry. Napoleon’s spectacular victories across Europe gave them much to celebrate. Sabre for uncorking bottles of champagne or cava with a 29cm long blade. Sabrage or sableado is a technique for opening a bottle of champagne with a sabre. It is sometimes used for ceremonial purposes.
From the hand of the elegant sabre of sabrage wine bouquet, unbuttoning a bottle of champagne or cava will be simpler and faster than ever; the technique consists of sliding the sabre through the body of the bottle in the direction of the mouth, hitting the neck and the glass breaks, separating the top of the neck of the bottle; after that, the cork and crown will remain together after breaking the neck of the bottle; in a technique widely used in ceremonies and events.
